FCES Training with Community First Responders to Deliver Life-Saving Medical Care
When a persons heart stops beating, seconds matter. A systems approach is required to increase the chance of successful resuscitation when a person suffers cardiac arrest. The emergency response system in Forsyth County consists of emergency medical 911 dispatchers who not only ensure emergency resources are responding but provide life saving pre-arrival medical instruction to bystanders, first responders from our career and volunteer fire departments, EMTs/Paramedics from Forsyth EMS, and our hospital partners.
This month the Forsyth County EMS Medical Director (Dr. Nelson), EMS Medical Director Fellows (Dr. Petit & Dr. Page) and the Training Division (Battalion Chief Gallimore, Captain Pate & Captain Davis) are leading CPR training at Winston-Salem Fire Department to further strengthen our emergency system response to those suffering cardiac arrest. Winston-Salem Firefighters and Forsyth County EMTs/Paramedics in the photo are honing their skills working hand-in-hand to deliver high quality, life-saving medical care.
