Detention Officer Jessup is currently assigned to the Special Management and Housing Unit, which houses inmates who have displayed violent behavior, defiance to institutional rules or suffer from mental illness. Officers assigned to this area are required to maintain the highest security standards and be capable of performing their duties with little or no direct supervision.
On July 17th, Detention Officer Jessup was conducting a cell search of an inmate that was a known to hoard medication and a history of several suicide attempts. During his search, Detention Officer Jessup discovered the inmate was hoarding several medications. The combination of medications were more than capable of being lethal. Detention Officer Jessup’s keen observation and dedication to his duties prevented self harm of the inmate. His dedication to the agency and the high standards he maintains are a credit to the Sheriff's Office, Special Response Team and the inmates at the Law Enforcement Detention Center.
