On March 14, 2026, Officer England was conducting her security tours in the new Intake Housing Unit when she observed an inmate lying on the floor in an unusual position. Recognizing that something was wrong, she immediately entered the cell to investigate. She discovered that the inmate was actively attempting to end his life. Without hesitation, Officer England took swift and appropriate action to prevent the attempt and ensure the inmate received immediate assistance. As a newly trained officer with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, her quick response and sound judgment directly changed the outcome of a potentially tragic situation. On the same night, March 14, 2026, Officer Cundiff was completing his security tours in the Administrative Segregation Housing Unit when he also noticed an inmate in an unusual position inside a cell. He entered the cell to assess the situation and discovered that the inmate was in the process of attempting to end his life. Officer Cundiff acted decisively and took the necessary steps to stop the attempt and safeguard the inmate’s life. His actions, like Officer England’s, prevented what could have been a very different outcome. Both officers, assigned to A Team, demonstrated exceptional courage, vigilance, and professionalism. Their actions reflect a deep commitment to their duties as Detention Officers and a genuine compassion for the inmate population entrusted to their care. Their dedication and decisive responses on March 14, 2026, exemplify the highest standards of the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center and merit formal commendation.
