Forsyth County Departments Partner to bring Dining with Diabetes Nutrition Program to its Residents

N.C. Cooperative Extension in partnership with Brown and Douglas Recreation Center and WINGS (Women Inspiring New Growth and Success) are offering the Dining With Diabetes Program Series designed for adults 18 years and older who are at risk for type 2 diabetes, for those with prediabetes; type 2 diabetes; or other insulin-resistant conditions, and people with other conditions that would benefit from this program, as well as, their families and caregivers.

Join us for this 4-week Dining With Diabetes Program Series being held at the Brown & Douglas Recreation Center: 4725 Indiana Avenue Winston-Salem, NC Sessions begin Friday, June 2, 2023, and every Friday thereafter for the month of June 2023:

  • June 2, 2023 1:30 - 3:00 PM
  • June 9, 2023 1:30 - 3:00 PM
  • June 16, 2023 1:30 - 3:00 PM
  • June 23, 2023 1:30 - 3:00 PM
We will offer education on how to live a healthy diabetic lifestyle and still enjoy the foods you love to eat. Included in the program will be a weekly cooking demonstration and taste testing.

Session components include:
  • What is Diabetes?
  • Carbohydrates and Sweeteners
  • Fats and Sodium
  • Vitamins, Mineral, and Fiber
  • Collection of recipes for Main Dishes, Side Dishes, and Desserts
