Qualified Sales Definition

Each real property transfer is analyzed by Tax Administration staff to determine if the transfer can be useful for market appraisal purpose. Sale information is gathered through the examination of recorded documents (deeds) and through interviews with property owners, sellers or real estate professionals. The North Carolina Department of Revenue publishes standards for real estate transactions to be included as a qualified sale. All other transactions are considered to be disqualified and are not considered in analyzing the real estate market.
