Synopsis and Discussion
A hot, stagnant air mass remains over the Triad, Saturday, July 4th, leading to code YELLOW ozone and particle pollution. The strong ridge, responsible for the oppressive conditions, will begin to weaken and slide off of the coast, later Saturday into Sunday, allowing for an increase of moisture and instability. While high temperatures, Sunday, will still be in the mid to upper 90s, the chances of afternoon and evening storms will help to alleviate the elevated air quality levels, pushing the AQI back to low code YELLOW. Showers and thunderstorms will be much more widespread Monday and Tuesday, helping to the lower the AQI to the YELLOW/GREEN border, Monday, and code GREEN, Tuesday (GENTRY).
