Air quality remains Moderate for the first half of the weekend as a backdoor cold front approaches the area. This moisture starved boundary will not impact the sensible weather or ambient air quality very much with quite a lot of sunshine and highs in the 80s continuing through Tuesday. Particle pollution is expected to continue hovering in the Code Yellow range for the balance of the forecast period. Following yesterday’s upper Code Yellow ozone concentrations, lower weekend emissions are helping to keep readings a bit lower today despite the stagnate air mass and averages will only approach the mid Code Yellow range at best today. Lower Code Yellow concentrations are anticipated tomorrow and with the potential for some afternoon clouds on Monday and Tuesday that might limit ozone production, readings are expected to remain near the Code Green/Yellow threshold.
