FREE Tax Assistance at the Library!

Free tax assistance will be available for eligible Forsyth County residents, individuals and families, who earned up to $ 42,000.00 in 2008. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) will provide trained volunteers to prepare state and federal income tax returns at the Forsyth County Public Library and other sites throughout the county. If you need additional information, call FIRST Line at 703-3000.

What to Bring:

  • Picture ID, W-2 form(s) and/or 1099
  • Bring Proof or Know The Amount of Your 2008 Stimulus (Rebate) Payment.
  • For direct deposit of any refund, bring a voided check or savings account information
  • Social Security Card (or ITIN) for primary taxpayer and spouse, if married filing a joint return
  • Social Security Card (or ITIN) for each dependent to be listed on the tax return
  • If applicable, proof of home mortgage interest, taxes, etc.
  • Totals for medical expenses, contributions, etc. (It is important and saves time to have already added up all receipts.)
  • For child care tax credit bring Employer ID (EIN) or SSN for all childcare providers
