An Appalachian story quilt

"Do you love storytelling and folk tales? Have you ever heard the "Jack Tales"? Southside Library is hosting a special presentation, "An Appalachian Story Quilt," with North Carolina storyteller, teacher, writer and historian, Lynn Salsi.

Ms. Salsi shares folktales, superstitions, songs, and jokes from the North Carolina mountains. She focuses on the lives and legends of the Ray Hicks family of Banner Elk who were masters of the historic "Jack Tales." Children ten and older will also enjoy this presentation.

Lynn Salsi's presentation is made possible through a grant from the NC Humanities Council's Road Scholars Speakers Bureau. The NC Humanities Council is a nonprofit foundation and state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
