The Tanglewood Cup Steeplechase Race will provide world-class Steeplechase racing as well as a full day of family-oriented activities. As a sanctioned race meet by the National Steeplechase Association we will attract the best racehorses and jockeys from around the country. Steeplechasing includes the thrills and speed of Thoroughbred racing at flat tracks. Mixes the precision of jumping to create a hybrid—like hurdle events in track and field—where the premium is on speed, but the concern is focused squarely on the jumps.

Enjoy not only the exciting steeplechase race but all of the Race Day activities. 2010 Tanglewood Cup has something for everyone.

The Opening Ceremony will feature a proper marching band with bagpipers & color guard, the release of a rehabilitated red-tailed hawk back into the wild, various speeches, race day invocation, and a traditional walk of the hounds by the Yadkin Valley Hounds Huntclub.

Children 12 and under will be admitted free but can purchase a special children’s area pass where they can participate in stick horse races, have their faces painted, crawl through Sea Weed the inflatable sea horse, visit the tattoo artist for a 'temporary' brand, learn about horse shoeing and hoof care from the farrier. Pony rides and a petting zoo will also be a big crowd pleaser. Local law enforcement will also be on hand with Mcgruff the crime dog.

Everyone loves to watch Jack Russell Terriers racing over hurdles. They are fast, competitive and absolutely hilarious. The tailgate competition is open to all parking space patrons. Prizes will be awarded from the Winner’s Circle for “Most Outrageous”,” Most Beautiful” & “Most Creative” tailgating spaces. The competition is open to all tailgating patrons. Guest will also be invited to participate in the hat parade and competition. Categories include “Do you DARE wear that Hat”,” “Elegant and Classic,” “Best Children’s Hat. Nothing says “Off to the Races” better than a beautiful hat

Steeplechase Village will feature a variety of shops selling food, gifts, clothing, jewelry, antiques, artwork and equestrian-oriented items. Please contact use if you are interested in renting a space in the village.
