Bridges Church Distributes Food

On Sunday, March 28, Bridges Church on Reynolda Road, housed in the Carmike Cinema Ten Theater distributed food boxes to 30 relative caregivers of children and their families in our community.

This is a great benefit to families during tough economic times to feed 30 families or 92 people in the Winston-Salem Community on Palm Sunday Weekend! The Bridges Project collected funds and food to share with families during the food distribution.

The Coordinator, Colleen Bennett says, “She is thankful that Bridges Church could work in collaboration with the Family and Children’s Division to support families, because there is need during the current economic times.” Bridges Church is under the pastoral direction of Patrick Norris.

Since Fall 2008, Bridges Church has served over 200 families from several program areas within the Family & Children’s Division. This most recent event benefited Relatives as Parents Program “RAPP” group members. RAPP serves relatives who are primary caregivers to family children and are working with to ensure safety, strengthen and preserve their family connections.

While the boxes distributed were not Angel Food boxes, Bennett, notes that Bridges Church is a local Angel Food Box provider and the church understands the “economic & food challenges” facing families. Angel Food Ministries operates a food distribution system all over the nation to assure that working families are fed. For more information, please visit the Angel Food Ministries website.

Bennett says it is the church’s aim “to have servant leadership, to show selfless service in the community, to encourage acceptance and diversity by creative involvement in the community”.

Social Services and families in our community are grateful to Bridges Church for their generous contribution, their giving spirit throughout their most recent project and their consistent support of our division.
