Buffers are an important part of the ecosystems and are essential to keeping a stream healthy. The Backyard Streambank Buffers program will teach the fundamentals of buffers along with the benefits, common streambank plants and small-scale solutions to reduce erosion. The program is free to the public. If you are among the first 50 participants to call in and you are in attendance the day of the program, you will receive a kit of 20 livestakes (elderberry, ninebark, silky dogwood, silky willow). You must reserve a spot and be in attendance to receive a kit of plants.
Programs are being sponsored by the following organizations: Piedmont Triad Water Quality Partnership, NC Cooperative Extension and Soil & Water Conservation Districts in Alamance, Randolph, Forsyth and Guilford Counties.
