Thinking about buying a new home? Here are two opportunities to get the real facts you need to make the best buying decision for you and your family. The Library has partnered with The Winston-Salem Regional Association of Realtors to offer facts and information every homeowner needs to know prior to purchasing a home. The first is the American Dream Weekend on April 21st from 4:00 - 7:00 pm in the Winston and Salem Rooms of the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The second is a Home Buying Seminar at our Reynolda Manor Branch on April 27th from 7:00 - 8:00 pm. Both events are free to the public.
Although the housing market has been rocky over the last few years, the bottom line is there has never been a better time to purchase a new home than the present. However, before charging into the market you need facts and information about purchasing a home that will keep you dream home from turning into a nightmare.
Phyllis Caldwell, Director of the Center for Home Ownership, along with local longtime realtor George Munford will give a program that every potential homeowner should attend before buying a house. Some of what they will cover includes following the proper steps to owning a home, what it means to be a homeowner (and the responsibilities that go with it). And understanding the credit process, including how loans and mortgages work and what you need to know before signing your name on the dotted line.
They will also answer all of your questions related to working with a realtor in purchasing a home and any other questions about the home buying process.
