FREE Clemmons Weather Spotter Class

Join Clemmons Fire Department personnel as they learn to identify severe weather patterns and report their findings to the National Weather Service. The National Weather Service will present the BASIC SKYWARN Severe Weather Spotter program to help participants understand the warning process. Discussions of how and why buildings fai! l in high winds as well as thunderstorm development and severity will be covered.

Attendees will learn to recognize cloud elements of developing thunderstorms and be able to determine storm motion, intensity and severity based on cloud structure. We will also take a look back discussing the devastating tornadoes of May of 2008 which struck Clemmons and Greensboro as well as the 2010 High Point Tornado.
