Make Your Library Books as Portable as Possible: Download!

Learn how to browse, select, and download books from our growing virtual library. Audiobooks and ebooks are perfect for road trips, time on the beach, or just about any relaxing activity. Try listening to a great story while you weed the garden or wash the car! Instead of packing that stack of paperbacks, load our ebooks onto a slim, lightweight ereader. Go digital with your library books!

Our workshop introduces you to the thousands of free titles found in the North Carolina Digital Library collection and our online catalog. Be able to confidently download library materials to your digital listening device or ereader.

Participants need to have an email address and valid library card. We will demonstrate the process for both an MP3 player and a Nook. You are encouraged to bring a laptop and portable devices. Review the Downloadable Media webpage for how this service from FCPL - in partnership with OverDrive - works and if your devices are compatible. [Note: Kindles are not compatible yet, but will be.]
