Asphalt Trail at Tanglewood Park

Construction has begun! Tanglewood is currently in the process of putting in a new asphalt trail system throughout the park. The trail will be 10 feet wide and almost 2 miles long. It will be a gently sloped, multi-use trail, perfect for walkers, runners, bicyclists, and in-line skaters. For safety purposes, there can be no motorized use of the trail.

The initial 2 miles of the trail is part of Phase 1 of the Tanglewood Park Master Plan. Some disturbances will occur where the asphalt trail is located with other existing trails for horses, mountain bikers, and hikers. At some locations, re-routing of the existing trails will occur after the new asphalt trail is completed.

The starting point for the trail will be located just beyond the Welcome Center in the gravel lot by the RV Campground. Granted cooperative weather, the trail will bring in the new year and be open for use on December 31, 2011!
