Every year, flu spreads across the country, from person to person. The severity of flu illness can vary from mild to severe. Complications from influenza can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death. According to CDC Data flu associated deaths range from a low 3,000 to a high of about 49,000 people each year. Even healthy children and adults can get sick from the flu.

National Influenza Vaccination Week is a national observance that was established to highlight the importance of continuing influenza vaccination through the holiday season and beyond. Flu activity usually peaks in January or February in the United States and can last as late as May. As long as flu season isn’t over, it’s not too late to get vaccinated.
