The fall 4-H Shooting Sports workshop will be October 19-20-21 at the Millstone 4-H Camp.
The workshop is designed to equip adult volunteers to work with youth in 4-H Shooting Sports Clubs. Participants will have the opportunity to share ideas and information while enhancing their skills in teaching youth through the use of the National 4-H Shooting Sports curriculum.
We will limit each discipline (archery, shotgun, pistol, rifle, hunting) to 15 participants. Each adult volunteer may only be trained in one discipline at a time and all participants should be registered with their local Extension office as a 4-H volunteer prior to attending the workshop.
This is a hands-on workshop, participants will be required to pass a written test in their discipline and required to teach portions of their curriculum as part of a practicum test. Participants should be familiar with their shooting discipline as we will not be teaching participants to shoot but rather how to use shooting sports as a youth development tool. There is a $75 participant that covers food, lodging, curriculum and shooting supplies.
We will select participants using a registration screening process. To receive a 4-H Volunteer application and a training registration form please contact April Bowman at 703-2855 or april_bowman@ncsu.edu. Completed applications must be received in the Forsyth Extension Center by Tuesday, October 2nd.
