The Honorable Chris Rodgers, President of the National Association of Counties, has recently announced the appointment of Commissioner Bill Whiteheart as Vice Chair of the Airports Subcommittee, the Transportation Steering Committee. This national level committee is engaged in developing policy on a number of issues facing counties, including but not limited to, matters pertaining to comprehensive transportation planning, rights of way, highway finance, airport development, railroads, as well as development of new modes of transportation.
Commissioner Whiteheart may also be asked to testify in congressional committees to promote the American County Transportation Platform developed by the National Association of Counties committee process.
Commissioner Whiteheart is the modern day founder of the popular and successful Winston-Salem Air Show. He has served for almost 20 years on the Airport Commission of Forsyth County, including service as Vice-Chairman as well as Chairman, and owns and operates a private airport on his farm near Lewisville.
