4-H’ers Participate in the 2012 Electoral College Process

Recently four North Carolina 4-H’ers represented North Carolina 4-H by participating in the Electoral College process held in Raleigh on December 17th, 2012. These 4-H’ers participated by leading the Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of the opening ceremonies for the North Carolina 2012 Electoral College.

Two of the 4-H representatives were from our area. Nathan Barrick, current State 4-H President and son of Michael and Melinda Barrick of Winston-Salem represented Forsyth County. Bryan Hartman, 2011-2012 State 4-H Secretary/Treasurer and son of Keith and Sharon Hartman of Walnut Cove represented Stokes County. North Carolina General Statue, Chapter 163, Article 18 dictates that the electoral process will take place in the old Hall of the House of Representatives in the State Capitol in Raleigh at noon on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December following their election. At that time, the electors meet and vote on behalf of the State for President and Vice-President of the United States.
