Flu Vaccine Supply Now Limited

The Forsyth County Department of Public Health no longer has flu vaccine for adults or any children age 3 yrs. and older. Doses are still available for young children ages 6 mos. through 35 mos. This vaccine is still free and is provided on a walk-in basis.

Children 6 mos. through 35 mos. of age may receive flu vaccine free of charge on a walk-in basis during the following hours:

  • Mon, Tues, Wed 8:30am-3:45pm
  • Thurs 9:30am-6:45pm
  • Fri 8:30am-11:45am
  • Clinic 3, Forsyth County Department of Public Health
  • 799 N. Highland Ave.
  • Winston Salem, NC 27101

Every year, flu spreads across the country, from person to person. The severity of flu illness can vary from mild to severe. Complications from influenza can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death, especially in infants and young children. Even healthy children can get sick from the flu. Children need to be immunized once they reach 6 mos. of age.

Flu activity usually peaks in January or February in the United States and can last as late as May. We are still having cases of flu reported in Forsyth County, so as long as flu season isn’t over, it’s not too late for young children to be vaccinated.
