Forsyth County DSS Needs Foster Parents for Deserving Children!

Foster parents provide a priceless service to families and children in our community. To foster means that a family serves as support to a child providing them a safe home while they are unable to live with their biological family or extended family.

The foster parent has a very important role in caring for the child while he/she is separated from their parents and helping prepare the child to return home to their caregiver or parent.

Foster parents may be a single adult or two adults. Foster parents are concerned, responsible community members who have been licensed by the state of North Carolina (through Forsyth DSS) to parent children who have been removed from neglectful and/or abusive homes by the court system.

Foster parents receive monthly compensation and medical coverage to help cover the child’s basic needs while they live with the foster parents.

Please contact Teresa Bryant at 336-703-3686 or Sharon Porter at 336-703-2445 if you are interested in becoming a licensed foster parent or if you would like more information or visit our website.

Please call to receive an application via email or pick one up on the ground floor at the Department of Social Services, 741 North Highland Avenue, Winston-Salem.
