The NC Junior Hereford Association’s Judging in January Contest was recently held in Raleigh, NC with the Forsyth/Stokes County Team competing and winning many awards, including Top Overall Junior Team.
Youth develop analytical, decision making, and public speaking skills during Livestock Judging Contests as they evaluate the conformation of each animal in cattle, sheep, swine, and goat classes and then give oral reasons to a judge defending their class placing.
The Junior Livestock Judging Team included: Lynae Bowman, Hannah King, Wesley Fishel, and Tyler Berrier. The Junior Team won the Top Overall Team, 1st place in Swine, 1st place in Sheep, 2nd place in Beef, and 3rd place in Reasons. Individually, Hannah King was 2nd place in Beef and 3rd place in Reasons; Lynae Bowman was 3rd place Overall Individual. The Senior Livestock Judging Team included Brandon Hartman, Kate Hice, and Melanie Fishel. The Senior Team won 2nd place in Swine and Brandon Hartman was 3rd place in the Beef division.
