The Carolina Field of Honor at Triad Park Open to the Public

The Carolina Field of Honor will be a place of remembrance and honor for all who have served our great nation in the Armed Forces. It will be a permanent reminder of the sacrifice of our service members, a place to reflect on the freedoms they have secured, and a community's collective way of showing its heartfelt gratitude.

On Saturday, May 31, 2014, a public dedication ceremony for the Carolina Field of Honor was held at Triad Park located at 9652 West Market Street, Kernersville, NC. State and local elected officials, high ranking military dignitaries and local news personalities participated in the official program. The Master of Ceremonies included Brad Jones of Fox 8 WGHP and Cameron Kent of WXII 12 News. Remarks were also made by NC Governor Pat McCrory. The Piedmont Wind Symphony, under the direction of Robert Simon, performed the National Anthem and patriotic musical selections during the program. Every military branch was recognized at the dedication ceremony and memorial wreaths were placed at the monument site to represent each military branch: U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Air Force. Randolph County Honor Guard and Jamestown Pipes and Drums were responsible for the Presentation of Colors.

Funding for the Carolina Field of Honor was made possible by the War Memorial Foundation. The War Memorial Foundation is a non-profit organization with the sole mission of raising funds to preserve the history of the veterans that have served this great Nation and work with the community in preserving the past, present, and future of the Armed Forces legacy. These funds will go to the building or renovations of War Memorial parks, monuments and facilities. Forsyth and Guilford County are honored to have Triad Park as the host site for the Carolina Field of Honor. Gratitude and appreciation are expressed to the Founder of the War Memorial Foundation, William (Bill) B. Moss, a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, for his vision of the veteran’s memorial and perseverance in following his dream. Special thanks is also given to the entire War Memorial Foundation Board of Directors and the Dedication Planning Committee. The program concluded with the Board of Directors presenting keys to Forsyth County Commissioner Dave Plyler and Guilford County Commissioner Bruce Davis as a symbolic way to hand over the inheritance of the Carolina Field of Honor.
