Have you noticed how rapidly the Forsyth County landscape is changing? Population growth and the needs associated with a growing economy are major factors in shaping our community. Agriculture, which includes forestry, is one of many important land use impacts in the county. There are 680 farms making up 17% of land use in the county, putting almost $22 million dollars into the local economy. Planning for the future in Forsyth County will include consideration for the role of agriculture and how it will be sustained. County leadership, in partnership with the Cooperative Extension Service and the Forsyth Soil & Water Conservation District, is working on a plan to assess the current agricultural situation today and what it can look like tomorrow. A key part of this initiative is seeking public input on the role of farms and forestry in our community. You can be a part of this effort by completing the survey.
