Join Forsyth Community Gardening for this hands-on workshop on using cover crops in the garden! We’ll sow a summer cover crop to improve the soil and smother weeds before a fall vegetable crop. Then, we’ll cut down a mature, over-wintering cover crop (planted last fall) and prepare that plot for summer veggies.
The workshop will be held on Saturday, April 23 from 3:00-5:00 pm at the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Garden (3543 Robinhood Rd., Winston-Salem NC 27106). The garden is two blocks west of the church on Robinhood. If you are able, please park in the church parking lot and walk to the garden.
*** Please note, this workshop has been MOVED EARLIER than the original date of April 30. Due to the warm spring, the over-wintering cover crops are already flowering and must be cut down this week! ***
Please register at: http://tinyurl.com/FCG-SGS Community gardeners who signed up to receive free summer cover crop seed by April 11 will be able to pick it up at the workshop. A LIMITED amount of extra seed will be available to community gardeners on a first-come, first-serve basis.
For accommodations for persons with disabilities or Spanish translation, please contact our office at 336-703-2850 at least two weeks before the event.
