Don’t touch that fawn!

Don’t touch that fawn!

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is reminding the public that they should not approach, touch, feed or move fawns. This time of year - during the first several weeks of a fawn's life - it is not uncommon for the mother to leave her fawn while she feeds. Though the fawns may look abandoned and alone, they are often just waiting for the mother to return. Fawns are actually well-equipped to protect themselves. By the time they are 5 days old, they can outrun a human and at 3-6 weeks they can escape most predators.

Please also keep in mind that it is illegal to remove a fawn from the wild.

Thank you for enjoying our sweet fawns from afar!
