4-H Club Leader Training Day!

Forsyth County 4-H will hold an orientation and training session for new and current club leaders on Saturday, December 9 2017 from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM at the Extension Building (1450 Fairchild Rd, W-S 27105).

4-H is a fun and educational program for children ages 5-18. The 4-H program is dedicated to helping boys and girls develop life skills needed to be contributing members of their communities such as responsibility, leadership, self-esteem, critical thinking, communication skills, and good citizenship through learning by doing. 4-H’ers also give back to the community by helping others through community service, and they have a good time doing it! 4-H clubs are led by volunteers that help coordinate their monthly meetings and activities.

All 4-H Volunteers (both new and current club leaders) are welcome and warmly invited to attend the entire day's events. However, we understand that everyone has busy schedules, so we've divided the day into two sessions. Volunteers have the option of attending only the session most applicable to them. Please read the descriptions below to determine which session(s) are most applicable to you. You will need to register on or before December 1st for these sessions here.

  • 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM | Morning Session: Orientation | All new club leaders MUST attend an orientation session prior to starting your term as a club leader or co-leader. If you are a new volunteer, you should attend this session. Current volunteers are also welcome, if you would like to review or refresh this information.
  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM | Lunch | All new and current club leaders are invited to join us for lunch. This is a great time for new volunteers to meet our current volunteers.
  • 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM | Afternoon Session: Policy Updates and Advanced Training | Current club leaders should attend this session to learn about new state 4-H policies and procedures. This will also provide a chance to review your paperwork and rosters. Both new and current club leaders are welcome to attend this session, as it will also include an advanced training component. However, current club leaders should make every effort to attend this session to ensure that we end 2017 with accurate paperwork and numbers and that your clubs begin 2018 fully updated on 4-H policies.

Again, registration for all of these events is required on or before December 1st, as we need accurate numbers for supplies and food.

All 4-H volunteers who attend this training must submit a volunteer application on or before the Saturday, December 9th Orientation and Training Day. This application includes a background and reference check.
