Visit Winston-Salem Unveils New Logo and Slogan

Visit Winston-Salem unveiled its new logo and marketing tagline, “Look Forward, Travel Back” that it’ll use to promote Winston-Salem as a premier destination for tourism, conventions and other events.

Visit Winston-Salem is the convention and visitors bureau for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County and serves as the official sales and marketing agency promoting tourism to the area. It is primarily funded through the six percent hotel occupancy tax paid by visitors to Forsyth County. The new logo and tagline were unveiled during a meeting of the Forsyth County Tourism Development Authority board, where the board approved Visit Winston-Salem’s $4.85 million budget and its strategic marketing and sales plan for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

County Commissioner Gloria Whisenhunt, who serves on the board, said the new logo was great and praised its inclusion of a Moravian Star, denoting the city’s strong Moravian heritage. The new logo and tagline were developed after extensive market research on visitors’ perceptions of Winston-Salem.

“Multiple flights of research reaffirmed that both leisure and meeting/convention visitors, embrace Winston-Salem for our blend of old and new, and downtown’s hip and historic vibe,” said Visit Winston-Salem President Richard Geiger.

As part of the rebranding, Visit Winston-Salem will be rolling out a new website optimized for mobile devices in September. After that, there will be a promotional campaign that will include billboards, radio and streaming television ads in the county’s top feeder markets of Charlotte, Raleigh, Greenville/Spartanburg, Metro Atlanta and the Greater Washington, D.C. area. These markets produce the highest percentage of leisure travelers and are also hubs for meeting and convention planners. Visit Winston-Salem also plans to promote the city at 31 trade and appointment shows.

The new logo will also appear on Visit Winston-Salem printed materials, like the more than 100,000 copies of the Official Winston-Salem Visitor & Relocation Guide that are distributed to welcome centers throughout North Carolina, the Southeast and in Visit North Carolina’s international offices in the U.K., Germany and Canada.

Visit Winston-Salem also operates the Winston-Salem Visitor Center, located at 200 Brookstown Avenue.
