4-H'er Attends State County Commissioner's Meeting

A 4-H’er from Forsyth County attended the tenth annual North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) Youth Summit, which was held in Greensboro, North Carolina August 23-24. North Carolina 4-H and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service partnered for the tenth year with the NCACC on a multi-year initiative to increase youth involvement in county government. This initiative helps youth learn more about county government as well as how to become more involved in local decision making.

The 4-H’er who attended from Forsyth was Ethan Cook, Forsyth County 4-H Council Vice-President of Kernersville. Ethan also serves as the Vice-President of the Nature Environmental Science Team (NEST) 4-H Club and Reporter for the Trailblazers Teen 4-H Club. Seventy-seven youth and adults from 66 counties were represented during this event. The event is sponsored and supported by the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners.

4-H is North Carolina’s largest youth development organization, equipping 229,500 young people each year with the skills to succeed and improve the world around them. 4-H programs and camps encourage young people to “learn by doing,” helping them to develop into active, contributing citizens. NC State Extension and the Cooperative Extension Program at N.C. A&T State University coordinate 4-H programs statewide.

NC State Extension is the local and statewide outreach provider of North Carolina’s preeminent research enterprise – NC State University. NC State Extension translates research-based knowledge in the areas of agriculture, food and nutrition, and 4-H youth development into everyday solutions that create economic, intellectual and societal prosperity for North Carolina.

NC State University is committed to positive action to secure equal opportunity and prohibit discrimination and harassment regardless of age, color, disability, family and marital status, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, political beliefs, race, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation and veteran status.
