COVID-19 Response Fund will help Forsyth residents

Forsyth County Government is proud to be among the partners in the COVID-19 Response Fund for Forsyth County. It will provide funding for non-profit organizations working with communities disproportionately impacted by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and its economic consequences. To make a donation, visit covid19forsyth.org.

Initial funding will benefit those disproportionately impacted, including:

  • Residents without health insurance and/or access to paid sick leave
  • Individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Healthcare workers
  • Hospitality and service industry workers
  • Communities of color, and in particular, residents with limited English language proficiency

The fund will be administered by United Way of Forsyth County and The Winston-Salem Foundation. Nonprofits are expected to be able to apply for the funds starting on March 27. The application process will be overseen by an advisory committee of local funders and community institutions working directly with impacted populations.

County Commissioner Chair Dave Plyler said that he was glad to see the outpouring of support the fund has gotten.

“That’s the reason we’re here, we’re looking out for each other,” said Plyler.

Those in need of help can call 211 to be directed to local community services and resources.

The City of Winston-Salem, which is donating $1 million to the fund, and Community Organizations Active in Disaster are also partners in this effort.
