UniFirst donates 10,000 masks to Forsyth County for small businesses

UniFirst donated 10,000 masks and hand sanitizer to Forsyth County Government’s Reopen Forsyth PPE Kit Program on June 17.

Forsyth County Government is partnering with local municipalities and business organizations to provide kits for small businesses that were forced to close or drastically reduce operations as a result of COVID-19 stay-at-home orders. These kits will contain items essential for businesses to continue to operate safely during the pandemic such as masks, gloves, and sanitizers. The kits will be free of cost to qualifying local businesses.

UnFirst is a national leader in the supply and servicing of uniform and workwear programs, as well as the delivery of facility service programs, and has a location in Kernersville. UniFirst Kernersville General Manager Chris Pegram said that the company was proud to give back to a local community that has supported it.

Forsyth County Commissioner Chair Dave Plyler said he was grateful for the donation, which will help provide masks to small businesses who really need it.

“We'd like to thank UniFirst for all they’ve done for the county and all they continue to do,” said Plyler.

Greater Winston-Salem, Inc. President & CEO Mark Owens also thanked UniFirst for their generous support. Greater Winston-Salem, Inc. will soon have an online signup form for small businesses with 25 or fewer employees to request the free PPE kits. They’re currently conducting an online survey to determine PPE needs for small businesses, that can be filled out here.
