A delegation of Forsyth County 4-H members attended 4-H Citizenship North Carolina Focus, which was held virtually this year. The Forsyth County delegation attended with more than 200 youth and adults representing 56 4-H programs across the state. Delegates participated in facilitated discussions and activities related to the importance of advocacy, local government, state government, and action planning. Luke Arrowood, Laurelyn Ridge, and Andrew White represented Forsyth County at the June 15-17 conference. Through various conference sessions and facilitated discussions, delegates learned from leaders across the state and from other conference attendees, including the Executive Committee from the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners, members of the NC House of Representatives, and our state treasurer.
Ridge shared, “The thing that I enjoyed the most about North Carolina Citizenship Focus was hearing from our legislators and learning about the importance of their jobs.” Arrowood shared that “The thing I enjoyed the most was meeting other 4-H members from across the state.” "I enjoyed hearing State Treasurer Dale Folwell’s talk on how integrity is so important when making life and career choices to be successful in life. I also enjoyed hearing from other fellow 4-H'ers Sydney, Luke, and Laurelyn sharing action plans that are making a difference in our community" said White.
