DO NOT Plant Unsolicitied Seeds Received in the Mail

North Carolina residents have reported receiving unsolicited packages in the mail that contain seeds. The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS) released a statement this week warning residents not to plant these seeds. Planting unknown seeds could be a pathway for the introduction of invasive species, insects, and plant diseases.

The NCDA&CS asks anyone who received one of these unsolicited shipments to save the contents along with all shipping labels and contact the Plant Industry Division toll-free at 800206-9333 or email newpest@ncagr.gov. Plant Industry staff will contact you to gather information and pick up the package.

For more information, see the statement from the NCDA&CS.
