Donate Your Extra Produce to a Local Food Pantry

Thanks to Alex Lambert, WFU #Winstonfromhome intern, the list of food pantries in our county that are accepting produce from local gardeners has been updated. Follow these guidelines when donating garden produce to a local pantry. Contact a pantry close to your location to help establish more food security. Let them know you will be bringing a produce donation and if possible, arrange for a contactless delivery. If not practical, wear a mask and practice social distancing as much as you can. Wash your hands before you harvest vegetables and fruit and use clean harvest containers. Keep the produce in the shade and cool until you can deliver it to the pantry. If you want to help Extension track donations, complete this google form to report your donation. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfqPlTXqnDSd_HqLnPNFJg4nrZBf_9vkaptA-usScDn7bVlqA/viewform

Consider planting a few extra rows in your fall garden to harvest and donate to local pantries. Gardeners can help alleviate hunger in our community and share delicious fresh garden vegetables at the same time.
