Taxes are due January 5 and property listings are being mailed

The last day to pay 2020 property taxes without penalty is Tuesday, January 5. Personal property listings for the 2021 property tax year should be arriving in the mail at the beginning of January.

The grace period for paying 2020 property bills runs until January 5, 2021. Property tax bills can be paid by mail, online or in person. Transaction fees will apply for online payments. A payment drop box is located on the Chestnut Street side of the Government Center and is accessible 24 hours a day for your convenience.

Payments are accepted in person at the Tax Collections Office on the first floor of the Forsyth County Government Center, 201 North Chestnut Street, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. during regular business days. Social distancing will be enforced and PPE (cloth face covering) is required. Forsyth County Offices will be closed on January 1.

Property owners should receive 2021 property listing forms and information in the mail at the beginning of January. If you are listing for the first time or have not received your listing form in the mail, you can contact the Tax office at 336-703-2300 or by visiting the office in-person.

The mailing for both tax bills and personal property listings include an insert that allows property owners to receive future bills and listings by email instead of through postal mail. The insert contains a unique code that allows the property owner to sign up for this paperless electronic option. If you sign up to receive bills and listings electronically, you can make changes to your listings and pay your bills though the emails you receive.
