Forsyth County to hold community meetings on Tanglewood Event Center project

Forsyth County Government will hold community meetings on the proposed Multi-Use Event Center at Tanglewood Park on July 28 and August 4.

Masks will be required at both meetings, due to the size of the expected crowd and the rise in COVID cases, and residents will have the opportunity to watch and participate in the August 4 meeting virtually. The first meeting will be held at Tanglewood Park’s Red Barn on Wednesday, July 28, from 6:30-8 p.m. Attendees can let the gate attendant know they’re there for the meeting for free admittance into the park.

The second meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 4, from 6:30-8p.m. at the Forsyth County Government Center, 201 N. Chestnut St., in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room on the fifth floor and residents will also be able to watch and participate virtually at https://bit.ly/EventCenterMeeting. Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting virtually to avoid a large crowd.

In 2016, voters approved a bond referendum for county Parks and Recreation that included a new Multi-Use Agricultural Event Center in Forsyth County. The project is still in its planning stages, but is intended to provide covered arena space that can be used for agricultural and non-agricultural uses. Potential uses include equestrian events, trade shows, and sporting events.
