Virtual event being held for World Aids Day

A local virtual forum will be held to commemorate World Aids Day on Dec. 1.

The virtual event is being held by Forsyth County Public Health’s POSSE (Prevent Ongoing Spread of STIs Everywhere) along with the local chapter of Phi Beta Sigma in Winston-Salem and Zeta Phi Beta in Kernersville. The forum will be live streamed at 7 p.m. on Facebook at Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc- Nu Tua Zeta Chapter and Delta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and will be available afterwards on those organization’s YouTube channels. The panel discussion will feature information on testing, services and disease awareness.

World Aids Day was first observed on Dec. 1, 1988 to bring greater awareness to HIV and commemorate those affected by the disease. It is the longest running disease awareness initiative of its kind in the history of Public Health.
