Free N95 masks available at Public Health Department

Forsyth County Departments of Public Health and Social Services just received 73,200 N95 masks from the NC Department of Health and Human Services that they’ll be distributing to community partners and the public while supplies last.

With the rapid spread of the more contagious Omicron variant of COVID-19, NC DHHS now recommends wearing a well-fitting, high-quality mask with multiple layers like a surgical or procedure mask, a KN95 or an N95, when in close contact with others or in indoor public settings.

Both departments have received 36,600 N95s each. The masks are designed to securely fit adults. Since they are designed for voluntary use, fit-testing is not required. They’re available for free in the lobby of the Public Health Department, 799 N. Highland Avenue, during normal business hours starting on Tuesday, Jan. 18. Limit four per person and eight per household.

Both departments will also be distributing them to county partners. Organizations and businesses interested in the masks can fill out a request from at bit.ly/ForsythN95.
