Masks will be optional at most county facilities starting March 1
Masks will be optional for visitors and employees at most Forsyth County Government facilities starting on March 1, 2022.
This move promotes community-wide standards as the City of Winston-Salem lifts its city-wide mask mandate on March 1 as COVID cases continue to drop. Though no longer required, visitors and employees to county facilities are still welcome to wear masks if they choose to.
The County will still require masks for its public transportation, detention facility and healthcare settings. This includes:
- Department of Public Health clinics (including vaccine clinics)
- Smith Reynolds Airport
- Law Enforcement Detention Center
Additionally, Social Services and Public Health will require masks when transporting clients and conducting home visits. Emergency Services will still require masks when providing patient care.
Residents are urged to follow
recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and NC Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS) when deciding whether to wear a mask.
