Shantele F. Williams who has been selected to be the next Division Director for the Economic Services Department effective October 30, 2023. Shantele is a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and has worked with the Department of Social Services for over 22 years. She has served in her current position as a Program Manager for 13 years, managing the operations of the following programs: Adult Medicaid, Food and Nutrition Services, Family and Children's Medicaid, Cash Assistance (TANF), Energy Assistance, Non-Emergency Medicaid Transportation, Program Integrity, Quality Assurance & Training, Childcare, Client Services and the DSS Call Center.
During her tenure with the agency, she has served as a board member for the United Way Impact Council, Forsyth Technical Community College (FTCC) Gerontology/Human Services Department, the Senior Services Community Alternative Program for Disabled Adults with Handson Northwest and volunteered with the Forsyth County Family Partnership Tax Program.
Shantele is a graduate of FTCC and continued her education at Salem College and at Capella University. She also completed the Advanced Skills for Managers Program, the Forsyth County Supervisor Foundations course and the Women’s Emerging Leadership Series through Handson Northwest where she serves as a facilitator. Shantele is a strong advocate for her community, enjoys helping to improve the lives of others and is focused on increasing the awareness of non-profit visibility in the Winston-Salem area.
In her free time, Shantele enjoys spending time with her two daughters and three grandchildren. She most recently adopted two fur babies, a Pomsky and Pomeranian.
Shantele is truly an asset to the agency and county and is very knowledgeable about all Economic Services programs.
