HHS staff and partners kick-off Child Abuse Awareness Month

Staff with Forsyth County Health and Human Services helped kick off Child Abuse Prevention Month at an event held today at the Forsyth County Courthouse.

Last year in Forsyth County, there were 3,138 reports of child abuse and neglect with 38 percent, or 1,185, of those victims under the age of 5.

The event featured remarks from Parenting PATH CEO Elizabeth Miller and District Court Judge Theodore Kazakos.

The event acknowledged the Child Abuse Prevention Month Collaborative Partners in Forsyth County: Action 4 Equity, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, The Birth Center, Bridges to Hope Family Justice Center of Forsyth County, Centers for Exceptional Children, the Family Support Network, Children’s Law Center of Central North Carolina, Crossnore’s Center for Trauma Resilient Communities, Crossnore Communities for Children, Wake Forest University School of Medicine Department of Family and Community Medicine, Family Services, Inc., Forsyth County Department of Social Services, Forsyth County Department of Public Health, District 31 Guardian ad Litem, Imprints Cares, Kernersville Police Department, Legal Aid of North Carolina, Love Out Loud, Novant Health First Steps, Novant Health Pediatrics, Safe Kids Northwest Piedmont, School Health Alliance for Forsyth County, Smart Start of Forsyth County, The Parenting PATH, Winston-Salem Police Department and Winston-Salem Recreation & Parks Department.
